What does it mean to be a TIF Student?
A friendship host/family is a local person or family (in the Tuscaloosa area) who will assist you in learning about American culture and life in Tuscaloosa. Additionally, partnering with a local family or host is a chance for you to share your culture and customs with American families in Tuscaloosa.
Your local family or host will contact you via phone or e-mail. You will be invited to attend TIF events sponsored for your enjoyment and participation. Your local host may also invite you to their home or other outings so that you can get to know them and what life is like in Tuscaloosa (and the U.S. in general). Please respond to any communication (email, text, phone) from your friendship family or host. Through friendship and sharing, we hope that your time in Tuscaloosa will be more enjoyable!
If you have questions, please email email@example.com.
Each year, Tuscaloosa’s International Friends gives several international students cash scholarships. International students who are current TIF members and are enrolled full-time at The University of Alabama, Stillman College or Shelton State Community College are eligible to apply for one of TIF’s scholarships. Recipients will be announced in the Spring Semester. The Spring 2021 scholarship application deadline is February 10, 2021.
